Writing for Joy, Peace of Mind, and Personal Meaning

Introduction

This retreat is designed for women who are interested in taking time away from their busy lives and turning inwards for a few precious moments to better understand who they are and who they want to become through the art of writing.

We will be taking time to observe ourselves and our inner landscape and translate that to the page. We will explore some practices around slowing down including stretching, breathwork, and contemplation. There will lots of time for reflection and writing.

If you are interested in taking time to build the skills that will deepen your connection with yourself and learn how to lean into the life that you want, this workshop is for you.

Method

Our time together will be collaboratively designed and encourage:

  • Structured and free writing

  • Group discussions and discussions in pairs

  • Slowing practices

  • Visits to local spots to gather inspiration and practice observation

  • Hearty yet healthy food

  • Time to reflect, review, and write

There will also be access to the spa (hot tub and sauna, both with a wonderful view)

Prerequisites

No previous writing experience is necessary.

Female or someone who thrives in a feminine space. Our working practices and leadership style will be distinctly feminine; collaborative, inclusive, team oriented, empathetic, authentic, and based on active listening and relationship building.

Food

Part of feeling joy and peace of mind is healthy eating.

Breakfast is provided in your cottage to be eaten when you please. Choose from yogurt, granola, eggs, bread, a selection of jams, fruit, tea and coffee.

Lunch will be a vegetable salad, a green salad, and a protein, along with home baked bread and fruit to finish

Dinners are a chance to relax together and enjoy Italy - think classic Italian with lots of fresh ingredients from local sources.

Sample Itinerary:

  • 9:00 – 11:00 Discuss theme and participate in writing exercises

  • 11:00 – 11:30 Stretch, do breathwork, contemplate

  • 11:30 – 1:00 Write and reflect

  • 1:00 – 2:00 Lunch

  • 2:00 – 4:00 Adventure out to find inspiration and practice observation

  • 4:00 – 6:00 Siesta

  • 6:00 – 7:00 Dinner

  • 7:00 – 9:00 Share insights and challenges
